The Practice

Run by Sadiq Merchant, trained in architecture, built on the roads.

Merchant Design Services is a residential architectural drawing practice based in Hounslow, producing existing & proposed drawings, feasibility layouts and planning submissions for extensions, loft conversions and alterations across London.

Sadiq trained in architecture and interior design before spending two decades as a design and traffic engineer inside London councils and consultancies — Camden, Brent, Merton and Croydon among them — taking schemes from site survey through detailed design to sign-off with Building Control, Thames Water and the Planning Portal.

That council-side experience is what shows up on the drawing sheet: dimensions that hold up to scrutiny, notes that answer the planning officer's question before it's asked, and a process built around getting consent without a second round of revisions.
